Foster Teens Often Do Not Get Birthdays.
Let’s change that.
We are in search of volunteers to celebrate with our foster teens on their birthdays.
“We just want someone to say ‘Happy Birthday’ and recognize that we want the same thing as other
kids our age – we want our own cake, a small gift – a general celebration and human contact with
people that care about the day we were brought into this world,” said Brianne, a 15-year old foster
Birthday Volunteers celebrate a birthday with a JFCS foster child who is matched with you, along
with other volunteers and teens. The event should happen in a “real” restaurant because most of our
foster teens have never been to a sit-down restaurant with servers. The volunteer will provide the
foster teen with lunch, a gift and a cake with candles ablaze. Singing “Happy Birthday to You” is just
