Jewish Family & Community Services (JFCS) offers a wide variety of volunteer opportunities for individuals and groups. Volunteers are at the heart of JFCS’ commitment to the mission of “helping people help themselves” and have guided our development, filled the pantry shelves, comforted seniors, helped us to raise funds and advocated on behalf of the needs of individuals and their families throughout Northeast Florida.
Individual and Group opportunities include:
FEED A NEEDY NEIGHBOR
Sorting and stocking food items in the Max Block Emergency Food Pantry.
CLERICAL ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT
Assisting staff with mailing, computer entry, filing, answering the phone and other general office tasks.
Help plan and organize special events such as fundraisers, social activities and holiday happenings.
JEWISH HEALING NETWORK
Friendly visits to those who are ill whether at home, in nursing homes or hospitals; holiday outreach to Jewish seniors; assistance with meals, errands, transportation.
Special arrangements can be made for group and/or one-time service projects, such as:
- Participate in food drives for our pantry
- Fill and donate diaper bags for new adoptive moms
- Hold a “kitchen shower” for youth aging out of foster care
- Assist with fund raising events
Serving in a leadership role for JFCS will ensure the long-term of support needed to continue our mission. Opportunities range from serving on the Community Advisory Board to creating lasting relationships with collaborative agencies to the Board of Directors.
