Volunteering at JFCS is flexible and diverse. We have opportunities that range from sporadic seasonal needs to ongoing twice a week commitments. There really is something for just about everyone.

Need Service Hours? We’ve got you covered. With unique opportunities for youth volunteerism, JFCS can be a great place to give back to your community. Volunteering at JFCS can bring you in contact with some truly incredible members of our community. Who knows? While volunteering at JFCS, you may just be the one that benefits the most.

Please note that JFCS CANNOT accept court ordered volunteering.

All volunteers must be background checked and fingerprinted, unless otherwise noted.

Opportunities

Administrative / Clerical Support | ongoing
Opportunity includes answering phones, providing coverage for receptionists’ at all three JFCS desks (main entrance, visitation entrance, and Dupont Counseling Group entrance), filing, and data entry.

Birthdays for Foster Teens
The foster teens in JFCS care seldom get to celebrate their birthdays. They do not get cakes or gifts. Their special day generally goes unacknowledged. This volunteer opportunity includes a one-on-one birthday event where you can take a teen out to lunch or dinner, give them a birthday cake of their own, complete with candles, as well as a small gift for them to open. We encourage group volunteer outings for corporations, but we ask that each child have their own volunteer to make their birthday special.

Collections Drives | no background check needed
Organize a collection drive. Ideas for drives include a baby shower drive, food drive, toiletries drive, school supply drive, Holiday toy drive.

Driver | requires valid driver’s license and clean driving record
JFCS is in search of a driver with a large truck or box truck to pick up food orders for the Max Block Food Pantry. Days and pick-ups vary from week to week.

Fanny Landwirth Clothes Closet
The Fanny Landwirth Clothes Closet is open to serve the community from 1-3:00pm every Tuesday and Thursday. Opportunities to volunteer include unpacking and sorting donated bags of clothing, assisting clients and organizing the space.

Holiday Gift Giving Program | volunteers needed October – December only
The Holiday Gift Giving program serves over 1,600 children and seniors associated with JFCS – Jew and non-Jew alike. It allows donors to “sponsor” a child or senior for the holidays. Volunteer opportunities available during the Holidays include delivery of gifts to designated locations, picking up gifts from drop-off locations, shopping for gifts, receiving and sorting gifts.

Max Block Food Pantry
The Max Block Food Pantry needs help on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1-3:00pm. Opportunities to volunteer include unloading and stocking shelves, as well as serving the public.

Monthly Hello | requires a commitment of six months
Volunteers will visit and/or contact seniors who are disabled, sick or shut-in once a month to help them feel like a part of the community.

Senior Food Delivery Program | requires a commitment of six months
Delivering food to Holocaust survivors and seniors living in the Jacksonville and Palm Coast areas who are living at or below the poverty level. JFCS and Feeding Northeast Florida provides frozen foods, meats, fruits, vegetables, and dried goods every other Wednesday.

Tutoring | requires a commitment of nine months
The primary role is to help students meet or exceed grade-level expectations within any given subject area. Areas can include reading, writing, grammar, math and comprehension. The volunteer tutor will provide much-needed support to children, including one-on-one supervised sessions, assistance for students needing help with homework and testing.
