PJ Library Jacksonville is thrilled to announce a new partnership with the National Center to Encourage Judaism (NCEJ) to launch the Beginner’s Guide Series — a brand new program designed to support multi-faith families and anyone looking for fresh, engaging ways to build Jewish traditions at home.
Founded in 2005 by Philanthropist Harold Grinspoon, PJ Library is a global, nonprofit program that provides free, high-quality Jewish-themed children’s books and supportive materials, every month, to families with young children from ages 6 months to 8 years old.
“PJ Library allows families to embrace Judaism on their own terms. For some, this might be their only connection to Jewish life, and that’s okay. Our goal is to meet people where they are.”
— Samantha Grinney, Program Coordinator for PJ Library Jacksonville
Here in Northeast Florida, PJ Library Jacksonville has proudly served our local community since 2007. With over 500 active family subscriptions and 1,200 books mailed out each month, helping children discover the beauty and richness of Jewish life.
Throughout the year a wide variety of programming is provided within our community. Over the past year alone, 19 events ranging from holiday-themed gatherings and storytime meetups to creative family workshops were created to bring families together in meaningful ways.

A recent PJ Library study showed that over 40% of our families are multi-faith and are seeking guidance as they create meaningful holiday experiences. The Beginner’s Guide Series was created with these families in mind and includes:
A Beginners Guide to Passover
A Beginners Guide to Rosh Hashanah
A Beginners Guide to Shabbat
Over the summer, Samantha will be on the road, delivering Shabbat welcome bags complete with warm messages and age-appropriate books for families new to the program. So if you see her and her son West pulling into your driveway, you know why!
Stay tuned for upcoming dates and more information about the Beginner’s Guide Series and PJ Library events happening near you.
